The annual feast of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Kataragama, a part of the Buttala Parish, commenced on February 21, 2025, with the hoisting of the flagstaff. The following evening, February 22nd, the Solemn Vespers Service was held, attended by priests, religious members, and numerous devotees, with Rev. Bro. Ivan leading the service. On February 23rd, the Festive Holy Eucharist was officiated by Rev. Fr. Ravi John, Assistant Priest of Haputhale Parish.
The Eucharistic Celebration was followed by the Solemn Procession with the statue of Our Lady and blessings. Rev. Fr. Rajeewan, the Parish Priest initiated the blessing with the statue of Our Lady.
This year's feast holds particular significance as the church gains increasing recognition across the island, attracting visitors from all corners of the country. This growing popularity adds to the already diverse religious landscape of Kataragama, a land renowned for its Buddhist temples and Hindu kovils.
