In order to take the next step in the journey towards a synodal church initiated by the Holy Father Francis in the year 2021, a instructional program was conducted about implementation of the last document of "Towards a Synodal Church" presented by the Holy Father in October 2024 and its activities as the Catholic Church of Sri Lanka was held on January 18, 2025 with the participation of Reverend Fathers, Reverend Nuns, Reverend Brothers and lay people led by the Bishops' Council of Sri Lanka at Borella Aquinas Institute of Higher Education Auditorium.
The Apostolic Nuncio to Sri Lanka Archbishop His Excellency Brian Udaigue participated as the chief guest. His Lordship Bishop Raymond Wickramasinghe, Bishop of Galle and the representative of Bishops' Conference of Sri Lanka for the Synod Assembly and Fr. Vimal Tirimanna CSsR, a delegate nominated by the Holy Father as a theological advisers to the synod were participated in the event.
