The annual Feast of Our Lady of Mahaweli Shrine in Lathpandura was celebrated with deep spiritual fervor, drawing hundreds of devotees from across the country. The event began with an inter-religious gathering, where religious leaders and local authorities, including a police officer, shared their reflections on the significance of the feast. The shrine, renowned for its miraculous interventions in gift of childbirth and employment opportunities has long been a source of hope for those in need.
Very Rev. Fr. Modustus Fernando presided over the solemn Mass, representing the Bishop of Badulla, Rt. Rev. Dr. Jude N. Silva and concelebrated by the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Roshantha Fernando and Rev. Dr. Ajith Appuhami. With the dedication of the parishioners, everything was meticulously arranged ensuring the occasion was both solemn and spiritually uplifting. The festivities culminated in a grand vehicle procession, where the statue of Our Lady of Mahaweli was carried through the streets of Lathpandura, Dehiyathakandiya. Devotees followed the procession with prayers and hymns, seeking the grace and protection of the Blessed Mother. The feast concluded with final blessings, leaving the faithful filled with renewed hope and faith.
