St. Anthony's Church, Ulhitiya, a sub-station of Mahiyangana Parish and the diocesan Calvary Shrine, witnessed the opening of the fourth Holy Door in the diocese on January 5, 2025. The ceremony was presided over by Rev. Fr. Hemantha Peiris, Dean of the Monaragala Deanery and Parish Priest of Mahiyangana Parish. This marked the second of two Holy Doors designated in the Monaragala Deanery.
Following the Sunday Mass at the main church, a solemn procession moved toward the Chapel of Confession, where a copy of the Holy Shroud of Turin is venerated. Rev. Fr. Hemantha blessed and ceremonially opened the Holy Door, following the traditions of the Catholic Church. The faithful entered through the Holy Door and renewed their baptismal promises, marking a moment of spiritual grace and renewal.
