The Holy Door at St. Anthony's Church, Monaragala, the principal church in Monaragala district, was ceremonially opened by Rev. Fr. Marlon Anthony, Parish Priest of Monaragala Parish on January 5, 2025. This marks the opening of the first of two Holy Doors designated in the Monaragala Deanery.
The service began with a solemn procession toward the church's main door, designated as the Holy Door. The congregation, holding yellow and white flags symbolizing the Church's divine mission, joined in prayerful anticipation. Rev. Fr. Marlon blessed the Holy Door and led the faithful through it, inviting them to experience spiritual renewal through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
The celebration continued with the Holy Mass, presided over by Rev. Fr. Marlon. Rev. Fr. Lakshman Ranasinghe, Rev. Fr. Rajeevan, Parish Priest of Buttala Parish and Rev. Bro. Sumal Madawala, Director of St. Anthony's College, Monaragala, were also present to this memorable occasion.
