Following his official welcome in Wellawaya, His Excellency, Most Rev. Dr. Brian Udaigwe, Apostolic Nuncio, arrived at Buttala Parish, where he was greeted with great joy by the parishioners and Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Rajeevan. Joining the celebration was Rt. Rev. Dr. Jude N. Silva, Bishop of Badulla, who also extended a heartfelt welcome.

A significant moment of this visit was the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of the Jesus Christ the Liberator Statue. This special event was led by His Excellency, the Bishop, and respected Buddhist monks and community leaders, reflecting the spirit of unity and harmony.
