As the final day of the pastoral journey unfolded, His Excellency, Most Rev. Dr. Brian Udaigwe, Apostolic Nuncio to Sri Lanka, paid a special visit to the Minor Seminary of the Diocese of Badulla, where he met with seminarians, offered words of encouragement, and blessed their mission of formation and service to the Church. It was a meaningful encounter filled with hope for the future leaders of the Church.
From there, the journey continued to the sacred grounds of the Poor Clare Convent in Bandarawela โ a place that holds a special place in His Excellencyโs heart.
This marked his third visit to the convent during his stay. In earlier visits, he had expressed his desire to celebrate Mass in this holy place where contemplative sisters live. Today, that wish was fulfilled in a joyful and prayerful Eucharistic celebration.
His Excellency was accompanied by Rt. Rev. Dr. Jude N. Silva, Bishop of Badulla, and during the Mass, he offered special thanks to Bishop Jude for bringing him to this spiritual sanctuary.
Though the Bishop Emeritus was not present, the Nuncio warmly acknowledged and appreciated his service during his message.
He shared deeply moving words:
โMonks and nuns are the heart and lungs of the Church. Through their prayers, they carry the mission of the Church forward โ they are true missionaries.โ
He requested prayers for:
-The Holy Father, for strength and healing
-The mission of the Church around the world
-His own service as the Apostolic Nuncio in Sri Lanka
With full hearts, we as the Diocese of Badulla express our deepest gratitude to His Excellency for his visit, guidance, and blessings. His presence was a gift of grace to all of us.
