The third day of the pastoral visit of His Excellency, Most Rev. Dr. Brian Udaigwe, Apostolic Nuncio, began with a joyful and faith-filled celebration in the heart of Badulla.

A vibrant bike rally, proudly waving Catholic flags, made its way from the Bishopโ€™s House to St. Maryโ€™s Cathedral, symbolizing unity, youth involvement, and devotion within the Diocese.

At the Cathedral, Rev. Fr. Dilex Shantha Fernando, the Parish Priest, along with the faithful, warmly welcomed His Excellency with a spirited band performance and traditional greetings.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Jude N. Silva, Bishop of Badulla, has been accompanying the Nuncio throughout his journey and was also present, joining in this joyful celebration of faith and community.

During his address to the faithful, His Excellency shared a heartfelt reflection, saying:

"During the recent Episcopal Ordination, I saw something remarkable in this Diocese โ€” unlike many others, the people here are truly engaged with the Church. Though it may be one of the smallest Dioceses in the country, the strength of your faith shines brightly."

He further emphasized:

"Being a Church is not only about priests and nuns โ€” they are there to guide you. You, the faithful, are the Church. I invite every one of you to take part in building a strong Church through active faith, unity, and service."

The Nuncio also had a meaningful dialogue with the parishioners, sharing in their joys and listening to their challenges. He offered his blessings to all, strengthening their sense of belonging and mission.

A grace-filled start to Day 3, full of fellowship, faith, and joyful dialogue.

Stay tuned! More updates coming soon from St. Joseph Vaz Church, Balleketuwa, and the Parish of Namunukula.
