Today, on January 16, Church celebrates the feast day of Saint Joseph Vaz, the Apostle of Sri Lanka.
This bilingual hymn was compossed in 2012, to be unitedly sung by both the Sinhala speaking and the Tamil speaking Catholics in Sri Lanka, in the same Melody & Meaning, in honour of St. Joseph Vaz in connection with the celebration held in January 2012 to commemorate the 300 years of his missionary arrival in Sri Lanka.
Lyrics and music composed by Rev. Fr. Anthony Hemantha Peiris of the Diocese of Badulla. Translation into Tamil by Rev. Fr. Michele Rajendram, Vicar General of the Diocese of Galle.
Let us reflect on his life of faith, dedication, and service to God. Let us horror his unwavering example of faith with this beautiful hymn. May his intercession strengthen our own faith journey.
